The MQF Level 5 Diploma in Health Sciences – Nursing Studies equips nurses with advanced professional knowledge, ethical awareness, and clinical skills aligned with EU Directive 2013/55 and The Council for Nurses and Midwives, Malta (CNM).
This comprehensive programme integrates theoretical modules, simulation-based learning, and supervised work placements across diverse healthcare settings. Students learn to provide holistic, patient-centred care in multidisciplinary teams while upholding Maltese legislation and ethical standards of nursing practice.
The course combines academic study with real-world training to help candidates transition into the Maltese healthcare system. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as first-level nurses with the Maltese Council of Nurses and Midwives.
Suitable: Qualified nurses with a minimum MQF Level 4 (or comparable) in Nursing who wish to upgrade their academic credentials and clinical competencies for registration as first-level nurses in Malta.
Nine core modules covering theoretical and practical nursing principles aligned with EU and Maltese professional standards. Topics include patient care, leadership, ethics, and healthcare management.
Hands-on simulation practices to apply theoretical learning in controlled environments. Students engage in role-play and clinical scenario training to develop competence and confidence.

These placements ensure students gain diverse clinical experience while applying nursing theory in real-world contexts.
Assessment is carried out through:

- Clinical Work Placements: Evaluated by qualified supervisors with a minimum of two years’ clinical experience

Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold one of the following:
- MQF Level 4 (or equivalent as per MQRIC) in Nursing
English Language Requirements:
